“Volunteering is the ultimate exercise in democracy. You vote in elections once a year, but when you volunteer, you vote every day about the kind of community you want to live in.” — Author unknown
The success of the Historic Irvington Halloween Festival depends heavily on volunteers. The volunteers work tirelessly all year to plan and organize the event and to attract the collective creative talent to it. Leading up to and during the week of October 24-31, 2020, we have many events needing assistance, including the numerous opportunities the day of the Festival, October 31, 2020.
Studies have shown that volunteering is good for your health. It increases self-esteem through a sense of accomplishment, provides an opportunity to develop a support system, and actually allows volunteers to live longer and with greater functional ability. Volunteering is also an easy way to make new friends and to become part of this vibrant and thriving community.
Come join your neighbors in supporting Irvington's largest fundraiser of the year, and by inviting your friends to come along and serve alongside you and by helping the community shine. As many of you know, this is Irvington’s most anticipated event of the year, and it is because of volunteers like you!
